In 1992 Toyota established its Guiding Principles in direct response to the international initiatives agreed to at the ‘Earth Summit’ in Rio, providing Toyota with a clear path towards achieving sustainable development.
Not only is Toyota at the forefront of environmental developments in business, so that all of our plants are ISO 14001 certified, but we also request the same environmental awareness and certification from our suppliers.
In addition, Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has created the 'Toyota Motor Europe Green Purchasing Guidelines' so that our suppliers can work in accordance with Toyota's environmental activities.
